China Warns Israel Military Force Will Not Solve Iran Conflict

(MENAFN) China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi told his Israeli counterpart on Tuesday that applying military force against Iran will not resolve underlying issues, highlighting Beijing’s opposition to recent US and Israeli strikes on Tehran, according to reports.

In a phone call initiated by Israel, Wang urged all parties to refrain from the use or threat of force in international relations, which “is in the fundamental interests of all parties,” including Tel Aviv, as stated by reports. He also expressed regret that Omani-mediated negotiations between the US and Iran were interrupted by military action.

The talks had reportedly “made clear progress and have also addressed Israel’s security concerns,” Wang said, noting that China is committed to promoting a political resolution to the Iranian nuclear issue. He emphasized the need for an immediate halt to military operations to prevent further escalation.

“China opposes the military strikes launched by Israel and the US against Iran. The use of force cannot truly solve problems; instead, it creates new ones and leads to serious consequences,” said Wang.

“The real value of military strength lies not on the battlefield, but in preventing war,” he added, stressing that China consistently advocates resolving international and regional conflicts through dialogue and consultation.

This conversation marked the first direct high-level contact between Beijing and Tel Aviv since the US and Israel carried out airstrikes on Iran over the weekend, which reportedly killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and 786 others, including many schoolgirls.
